Description
Explore the north end of Liberty Bay on this relaxed, protected paddle. Start out at the Poulsbo Marina and head northwest across the bay. Continue north to the mouth of Dogfish bay. Stop at American Legion Park on your way back and enjoy a picnic. Kayak and Paddleboard rentals are available.
Special Considerations
The mouth of Dog Fish Creek is very shallow and muddy at low tide. Liberty Bay is busy with boat traffic, be mindful of your surroundings and your own visibility, particularly around the marinas. Seals in the area have grown accustomed to people and can at times be aggressive; stay aware and enjoy all wildlife from a respectful and safe distance.
Going Farther
This paddle can easily be combined with the Oyster Plant Park route to double your time on the water. Those feeling more adventurous can do a 6-7 mile loop of the entire bay, stopping by Keyport for lunch.
